D.O. was calmly stocking her vendor when I ran by and did a random steal and ended up with all of her bolts. She didn't move...... After quickly banking the ill gotten goods and returning to the scene of the crime, I notice my victim still standing there performing her vendor duties. This was too good to pass up, I could always use a few new trinkets for the bank. However, this time I bothered to snoop her pack and it that's all it took. A halberd was hastily equipped and the chase was on.
Despite the lag, I was able to run my victim in circles until she gave up the chase. This was no fun for me however and I decided to venture out to find her. Luckily my Search did not take long she was at the bank re-stocking the bolts she had just had liberated.
After a brief speech on how she would have kicked my ass had she not been stocking a vendor, I invited her to kill me. I explained that even though my flag had worn off, I was now perma-flagged to her because I had stolen. With her stock of bolts replenished she fired a shot that didn't really scratch me too much, my reply was with a Greater Explosion potion. This proved to be a mistake as a NPC I thought to be out of range took injury and had me guard killed.
After my return from the healers I quickly found my friend and stole some regs, unfortunately the guards frowned upon this also and whacked me again.
However now I had what I wanted. Demon Online had followed me to the healers and obliged me by killing me when I had ressed. I was once again forced to call on the services of the healers.
This time however my flag had worn off and I was no longer "perma-flagged" to my new friend because I had already died. A quick attack from her Heavy X-bow brought an attack from the guards as well. As she flew from her horse to the ground I began to collect my new goods.
Her generosity was unmatched, and I had such an abundant supply of loot that I quickly had to sell things just so I could place the valuables in my safe deposit box. When I did venture to the bank, I once again encountered my new friend who was curious as to why on earth I would play a thief char.. (As if the sight of me standing there in her plate, wielding her Heavy X-bow and banking the gold I had just made from her other goodies shouldn't have been a good enough indication) My explanation that it was putting me through college didn't seem to suffice so, I quickly wrote a book entitled "Thieves are our friends" and gave it to her. Hell maybe I can start a more profitable career as a writer. :)
