PvP Lesson - Thief Style
This story takes place at the Britain Healers, written before the patch which stopped healers from ressing greys.
Over the past week I have become quite fond of killing the people who kill newly ressed grays. I was doing so again this day, and had a most exciting battle.
I had attacked a healer to go gray and get guard killed in order to provoke a fight with a res killer. Unfortunately, as I was about to get ressed, a tough looking guy came into the Healers named Adrian Rashe, armed with a Heavy Xbow and wearing a mixed Bone/Plate set. I figured, what the hell and resurrected. I walked outside, hoping to avoid conflict, but he attacked anyway. I was already outside, so a bolt didn't fire through the wall. I tabbed in and out of combat and hid, he ran out and went for another victim. His victim whipped off their robe to reveal bone armor and a heavy crossbow. I stepped out of hiding, and while they were fighting I stole from Adrian, since he was flagged aggressor. He had no idea at the time. I did a random steal and got a gheal potion (joy!) I did it again and got another (double joy!). I managed to do it one more time and got a gstrength potion. I drank one gheal to bring me up to 1/2 (recently ressed remember.)
Adrian decimated his victim and with one gheal was full again. I ran to the corpse (still gray) and grabbed what I could which included : a bow, 10 or 15 arrows, and other assorted shit. I donned the bow, determined to kill Adrian. I initiated the attack and shot him for about 1/5 life. He fired and missed. I then danced around the range of his weapon, using my superior range to my advantage. I shot him down many times, forcing him to use 4 gheal potions. He then made a run for the inn close-by. I fired twice at his fleeing back, missing. I then realized I had no more arrows. I ran back to where the previous victim had fallen and asked a bystander for a few arrows. He said I was a Scoundrel and refused. I told him I was killing a res killer and he handed me about 10 arrows. I ran back, praying Adrian was still there. He was. Also there was one bystander who enjoys watching me fight. His name is Adon, a healer waiting for the new patch. I chased Adrian up the stairs of the Sweet Dreams silently commending him for not logging out.
The fight upstairs was hectic and we were in tight fighting quarters but I'll relate it as best I can, there was also much more boring misses, I'm only counting the arrows/bolts that hit their intended target.
I chased him up, shot him down to half, he drank a gheal, I stole one from him. He shot me for 1/3, I drank a gheal. I shot him so that he had about 1/4 life left, and he ran into a room, and hid. I walked in, he shot me, I drank a gheal. He drank a gheal. Right now he is at about 1/2, I am almost full, and I am out of arrows (Doh!).
Not being one to give up, I use my preferred weapon, the dagger. I stab and stab and stab. He fired a bolt, missed, and picked it back up (sign of low ammo). He fired another, missed and I picked it up. He then ran into another room, hid, and came out with his fists. I was using my dagger, and currently winning. I used a gstrength, and managed to steal another potion. Gstrength. He fletched some bolts on the fly, and I stole 1/2 of them. He drank a gheal. He started shooting and missing again, but landed one hit for about 1/2 of my life. I do another steal, and grab a shield. I threw it on and fought some more with my dagger. I stole some feathers, a gheal, and failed on something to heavy while I stabbed some more.
He shot me down to 1/3, by this time he is at about 1/4 life. I threw down the shield and drank a gheal(my last one), bringing me to about 2/3. He hits me again, bringing me down to 1/3. Then Adon, to my surprise, hands me a heavy crossbow. I quickly equipped it, and shot Adrian with the bolt that he had missed me with. His bar went totally red. But he still had 2 or 3 hitpoints left. To my dismay, he fired one last bolt, killing me where I stood.
I got resurrected, and returned to the scene. I congratulated him on a good fight, and since my corpse was blue to him now, I returned the stuff I had stolen and not used, as well as returning the bow to Adon.
Although I did die in this fight, It shows good thief tactics while in battle. (BTW - You can't steal in combat. I tabbed combat a few times, stole, and fought on when I did do a steal.) I managed to almost kill him, starting as a newly ressed with a dagger, and seizing every advantage I could. If I had been armored, and at full health like he at the start of the battle, I most likely would have won. But, I enjoyed the fight, didn't lose a thing, and gained the experience of the battle.
