Character Development

Creating a character is easy enough, but the problems start when you have to build it up.  Some even quit playing a new guy thinking that it's pointless and too slow.  Heres everything you ever wanted to know about developing a character but were too lazy to find out.

Macroing... the horror!
Your first few days of play will involve quite a bit of macroing.  If you don't like to macro then I'm sorry but I can't help you.  I wish I didn't have to macro cause it's long and boring but Origin made the game so that macroing is necessary so here we go.  Depending on what type of character you have there are different things you may need to macro.  Almost everyone will have to macro hiding and a combat skill, others have certain other things.  Look below for a list of skills to macro for certain characters, and the skills to macro to raise certain stats.
Who Macros What?
Confused as to what to macro?  Here's a table to tell you.

Mage
A mage should macro hiding in order to escape noto hunters, creatures, and things of the sort since they won't have recall and other spells that would help them escape yet.  Detect Hidden would also be nice so they can find hidden players that they may need to cast a spell on.  Tracking is also ane ssential skill that can be used to find prey.
Fighter
All combat skills should be macroed on training dummies from Day 1.  This will give you a few stats and increase all of your fighting skills up to 25.  Hiding and/or detect hidden should be used while you are macroing the dummies in order to reduce macro-time and get you out into the world as quick as possible.  Also don't forget tracking as it is useful to almost everyone.
Thief
The town thief doesn't need to macro many skills since they already have some stealing and high hiding.  A thief should try to find a fellow thief to practice stealing on each other.  Get some torches, backpacks, dyes, and dye tubs in each of your backpacks and start robbing each other.  I got my stealing skill up to 80 in a few hours by practicing with a friend.
Rogue
Like the fighter, all combat skills should be macroed on the dummies along with hiding and detect hidden.  You will find yourself having more fun if you get as many things done at one time as possible.  Snooping should be bought from an NPC thief and then practiced on players around town.  Just walk around people and take a peek then move on to the rest of the folk.  Stealing should be practiced on a friend like explained in the Thief section above.  Lockpicking is a useful skill to use in dungeons or on chests in houses that you are robbing.  Have a carpenter/tinker make a locked chest for you and just keep picking it then locking it again.  A lockpicking skill of about 30 or 40 is enough to open almost any lock.  And as always, don't forget tracking.
PK
A combo of Fighter and Mage.  Practice all combat skills along with hiding and detect hidden on the dummies.  Raise magery until you get laryngitis from saying so many words of power, and get some tracking to find hidden targets.

The table below should tell you what skills to use to raise certain stats.  If you know anything else that helps please let me know.

Strength Carpentry is the best I've seen so far.  Just get yourself a saw and 1 board.  Then use the saw on the board and close the little choices window when it appears.  You will not lose the board, the saw will not break, and you will gain strength.(*No Longer Works*)

Another good way is hiding yourself and mining 1 spot all night.  Just stack pickaxes on top of each other so you can continue.  Mace fighting and arms lore are two other decent ways but I never use them.

Intelligence Spirit speak is the best, just ask any mage.  Sit there outside the bank or wherver and keep talking to the ghosts.  Your int will sky rocket.  Other good skills to use include item ID, tracking, and arms lore.
Dexterity Stealing works wonders, but it's only good if you have a partner to practice on.  Fencing and fishing work great (finish I think is the best.) Hiding is excellent as well.
Bored? Don't Worry.
Bored of macroing already?  True it's boring as hell, but the benefits are unbelievable.  You will find the game much more fun after your first few days of macroing and you'll see that you really dont need to do it anymore after the first few days.  Have patience and go watch TV or read a book or something.
