Everyone is entitled to their opinion i don't think you can make an good argument for women in some jobs and not gays but i was making an argument against both for my MOS in particular.
Judas I am glad that a fellow service member posted their point of view but keep in mind your background is different from mine.
I dont think they have females in FA unless i am mistaken. In EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) we do have females. I have seen what kind of problems that causes in a 20-40 man company on a deployment.
We live in the same small tent for months together and usually share showers and bathrooms. Many of the FOBs i was stationed at contained nothing but combat MOSs so there was not a single woman there. Had their been one she wouldn't have had a separate space to change, sleep, and piss in.
In my friends company 2 soldiers were married. During deployment the First Sergeant would send the husband out on missions at another FOB so that he could have sex with his SPC wife. Thats great for unit moral.
I think we can all agree that having male soldiers share rooms with female soldiers is foolish. So why is it any less foolish to have soldiers of different sexual orientation sharing living spaces.
I would be just as sensible to have all the lesbians shower with the men and the gay men shower with the women. If i shouldn't mind showering with a gay guy the lesbian shouldn't care that all the men are starting at her in the shower because she isn't into them.
At the end of the day the only question that should be asked about having gays in the military is will it help or hurt more. I think it will hurt more in MOSs like mine.
