Default Fallout 3 has been released!

So far, the best deal I could find is at circuit city. They are offering the PC version of the game for 49.99, including a $10 gift card, and a free strategy guide worth $10.00.

Please keep me updated with your impressions of this third iteration of the series, as I was a fan of the original two, despite it being many years since I played the first two games. I have a feeling this game will mechanically play out a lot like the Oblivion series, due to it being the same graphic engine. Hopefully they will have implemented a much more compelling central story line, and of course give in to a lot of the interesting tangents us wanderers like to take part in.

So, here's to the post-apocalyptic world we shall all soon be exploring!

Edit: I went to my local Circuit City, and low and behold they were sold out of Fallout 3 for PC. So, I had to go to Best Buy adjacent to it and pay full price; while not receiving any of the benefits. My advice to those interested in this deal would be to go out and get it now, before they are sold out of the game. By the way, Best Buys stock of the game was almost full. I guess people are looking for the good deals right now.

Got the Collector's edition as well, am about 2 hours into it. Didn't want to get too absorbed as I am leaving for Vegas tomorrow, but it's awesome so far. The fallout games have an atmosphere like none other, and this one has done a good job of capturing that.

I still think the originals are better GAMES...but i'm not quite an NMA fanatic. The game is good if not what I personally would have wished for, def a buy though. And if you have never played the originals you're in for a fucking treat. I've been stocking up on cred and equipment (Only playing on Hard) and haven't done any of the main quest yet short of getting out of the vault.

How does it compare to Stalker? They seem to be a pretty similar backdrop. I also liked the first two, but.. I dunno, it seems like it won't quite be the same thing without the isometric view. Also, the turn based thing was a big part of what I enjoyed about it.

So, my experience with Fallout 3 has been addicting. As my interest in Warhammer Online quickly faded, I figured I would give a single player RPG a shot. It has not been a disappointing in the least. The ability to freeze the game mid action, and select certain body parts to target, is beyond cool.

The story line at the start of the game is very strong, and then you're thrown out of the vault in to the world. At that point you begin off to the town to pick up your questing activities. From there you're given many opportunities to explore, and even get some pretty surprising quests. The quests differ greatly in what you're able to accomplish, and how they are achieved, which is a breath of fresh air.

I am having problems trying to get to some of the locations in the world, specifically the radio station that you have to venture to. For some reason every path I try to take to get there ends in dead ends. Any help I could get in regards to this would be nice. Also, please share your experiences on the game, as I don't want to miss any thing.

Only way this game will be good is if we mod about 3/4s of it. Bethesda has no idea what its doing. As far as I'm concerned the game I bought is not fallout, its a post apocalyptic game. But its not fallout.

No you are a tool.. and I dont believe you have even played much of it at all. It completely takes what has been established and builds on the legacy of the previous iterations of the series. The graphics in high def are simply amazing even though I am quite tired of the bleak and brown setting.. the delivery and lip sync is way better than oblivion, the game play is fast and ferocious when you run out of AP, the consequences of your actions way heavy and the dialogue choices are sublime, the gore factor is just right and the adult language is a welcome change from the shovelware of wii shit titles and (i know i am going to get flamed) but the fucking tons of peripherals and games that are of the guitar and drum caliber. If you can't appreciate what this game is and what this game holds then you should just quit fucking gaming.. its very absorbing and draws you in like a moth to the dayglo light.

I find very few faults with this game.. its like mass effect on EXTREME crack. Which is a very good thing.. The fps targeting and engagement is far more fluid and intuitive with the V.A.T.S system than mass effect was. The color scheme even though it is a barren nuclear wasteland is just getting old to me. I am over the brown and its 40 shades factor.

Music is great by all means and it pulls you in just enough without being overbearing with very I dunno umm surreal feel. Its haunting at times and panicky at others.

I love how you enter the world through child birth and a very rapid flash forward of advancement for tutorial which is brilliant into of itself. I love the feeling that you get when you get a sandbox world and you step out of the confinement zone.. You pause for a sec and look around.. Unsure of your surroundings.. Get a scope for everything that you see... Where to go? what to do? what the fuck is that!!!! And fallout 3 for me does that like no other title has...

Anyone been in the school yet? Good times there..

Megaton is a really fun first story mission mission.. and you can either blow the city up, turn in the guy that wants it blown up to the sheriff, or disarm the nuke but upset the children of atom cult that is in the town.. choices choices decisions decisions.. which brings me to the point of replayability.. I will play this game again possibly thrice for story outcomes and side plots..

I have done the radio and I am heading north west for some exploration and although I could be playing the game right now I wanted to share some insights as to why I would choose this game right now over any other available on any system.... Till i get to Gears of War 2 coop Tuesday...

I've been playing a lot, mostly side missions (I skipped one of the main missions and found out info that passed me on so I didn't have to do it (IE going to the radio station)) and I'm having a lot of fun though I still say it's not as good playwise as the first two. Fun in it's own right though. I have a shitton of stuff saved up and I'm like level 11. 3-4 mininukes, 20+ emp grenades/frag grenades, I just got a couple laser rifles which are worth a ton but I won't use them till I get my eng wep skill up. I'm trying to just level a lot and spread pts into everything. I miss pimping my wife though.

Seriously, Grow up little baby. You obviously don't know what a real story is. Or for that matter real choices and consequences. Fallout 3 offers neither, since half of the game you can reverse your karma through easy church donations and water for HOBOS.

While in the original Fallout's it was much harder. You actually made real choices and had actual consequences and this was in a game ten years ago. What has Bethesda brought us after all this time? why shiny graphics...yay..

Waste of money and time honestly. Oh and how about these crappy animations, where you glide across the floor and the dog looks like he's stuffed. Isnt this supposed to be a AAA+ title with super amazing graphics?

I beat the damn game twice already. I played a super evil guy and a super nice guy. Both times I was very disappointed, with mods tools me and the guys at NMAs will make this into a real fallout. Or how about the bugs.... Ah yes, people randomly falling to their deaths in megaton so you cant even finish a quest. What a wonderful little game they made.
