Default The Golden Age

Do you guys remember the good ol days? Back when you had to use DOS to play almost every game and half the fun was just getting the game to work on your computer.

Do you remember the great games like: Darklands.Net Homepage - Darklands Domain Introduction Or how about the Original Ultimas? I never missed a chance to kill Lord British.

I'll never forget all the fun times I had with those games. Share some of your favorite oldies here please.

I think playing Myst was one of my best memories.

Also these are notable. Playing Duke Nukem online through Mplayer and MechWarrior on Mplayer with a 28.8k modem. All night sessions on UO. Our guild battle of Minoc in the Brood guild against Grimblade's guild. My first time online against another person was X-wing , Tie Fighter Star Wars game. Hmmm, playing NavyField with my guild as I first got my Tier 1 Battle Ship.

Sorry about the grammar, I am in the bathroom at Main Event typing on my phone.

Hey guys, thanks for contributing two useless posts to the thread. And apparently the main event was so boring you just had to check the forums in the bathroom. Thats just craptacular!

Anyway, I was actually talking about games way older than Myst. I'm talking games back on the first IBM computers. But I suppose its fine as long as none of the games are past 2001.

Fallout 1 and 2 are my two favorite RPGs of all time. The environment, dialogue, and gameplay was superb. The only one that comes even close to them in terms of sheer enjoyment is Arcanum.

Oh and lets not forget Planescape Torment, but I think that's in a class of its own.

Way to be a douche.

So, like some of the games I mentioned were DOS. And if you want to go further back then I actually enjoyed Rogue on my IBM BlueChip but that's probably because there was hardly anything of real quality that far back. I played a few other games on my Aunt's Tandy from radioshack like Kings Quest and some space game she was addicted to.

If you are talking about the internet era PC gaming. Warcraft, 7th guest, Gorilla, Wolfenstein, Doom, Myst, X-wing, Jazz the Jackrabbit (just kidding) These were all single player experiences.

I could lie and said I enjoyed more but I did my retro gaming phase and tried out some "classics" through emulation and was sorely dissapointed in nearly all of them. You had to experience them when they were "cutting edge" or they will just seem like rubbish.

Way to not take a joke dipshit.

But thank you for contributing something worth reading. And yes I agree its not the same to play them a decade down the road compared to when it was brand new and you barely met the system requirements.
