Default Robin Hood

I'm not a Russel Crow fan but this movie was very well done. Ridley Scott directed and I think he did a great job on an original (and possibly more historically accurate) take on a story that's been done countless times before. Good fight scenes, fantastic scenery and camera shots, and an ending that kept me looking forward to the next chapter in what's sure to be a very entertaining series.

I love Ridley Scott films. Kingdom of Heaven, Alien, Body of Lies, Gladiator.

I am also a huge fan of European history. I hopped across the river from the film Robin Hood Prince of Theives in Yorkshire, England (Asygarth Falls) from the scene with the pole fighting. If you are a Robin Hood fan, there was also another Robin Hood that came out in 1991 besides The Kevin Costner one. This one has Uma Thurman as Maid Marien and follows more the story of the Saxons and the Normans with King Richard never returning from the Crusades again.

The Robin Hood referred in this post was a bit more serious and the cinematography more interesting. They left it open in a way as if a sequel could be possible but I don't think there is enough interest in the era. Russel Crowe always does outstanding acting even without an authentic English accent. Richard the Lionheart was pretty good even. It would make a good BluRay watch.

I have only seen one Robin Hood with a real English accent and that is Robin Hood with Uma Thurman that came out in 1991. In this one Robin Hood is Robert 4th Earl of Huntington but he's a Saxon Earl and becomes outlaw after offending a Norman Baron who is 1st Baron of the realm because the Norman just took power. There is no Sheriff of Nottingham either.

It's funny how the Robin Hood story changes so much like the story of King Arthur, which has two versions I am fond of.
