actually now that I have watched the movie enough to analyze it,after the "weeee" factor wore off there were a few things that annoyed me

1.Nimoy talking through his false teeth was annoying
2.how many fucking times does the cliche "hanging from an edge of something" happen? too many
3.another movie cliche that annoyed me,Kirk arriving at Star fleet on a motorcycle, how many more movies do we have to repeat this scene in?
4.a few obvious mistakes,Kirk with a phaser then without then has it ,Abrams needs to look over his editing staff.
5.Chekov 'nuff said
6.Spock is now kal El meaning that they changed Spock into superman, surviving alien from a doomed planet amongst humans
7.Nimoys final line in the movie makes me do this

8.the engine room of the Enterprise looks like Abrams budget fell short and they filmed at the local beer factory
9.Mr Scotts little gremlin or whatever the fuck it was

things I liked
1.Captain Pike was cool
2.hot nearly naked green chick and Uhura
3.the Kelvin scene was cool
4.I like the tech except the engine room
5.I like how Spock looks on the verge of a meltdown during the whole film
6.McCoy 'nuff said
7.the references to other star trek movies

This movie does reboot the franchise and breaks the cycle of odd numbered star trek movies usually sucking, this movie will definitely spawn a few more sequels,I am interested in where JJ Abrams is taking Star Trek, hopefully it isn't Lost Island.
There are a few sequences that really went with star trek lore such as Spock being teased by other vulcans and leaning on his mom (revealed in ToS ep Journey to Babel),Kirk cheating at the Kobioshi Maru test that the die hard trekkies will enjoy.

Eric Bana plays such a good villain I hated to see him meet his end by far my second favorite ST villain next to Khan.

I had severe reservations when I first watched this, having visions of Galaxy Quest, but I wasn't disappointed.this movie is worth a watch at the theaters and I will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD and like the tagline says "this isn't your dads star trek" but it is deffinetly Star Trek and fans of the series wont be disappointed.
