Default I miss you guys

Kinda crazy to come to the front page and feel as if im home (kinda). A lot of memories over the years on this forum. Its fun to go back and read the old posts and see peoples avatars and names. I hope we get a 7th wind and things get popping. If you are reading this, maybe make an effort to start a new thread once a month and give some life back to this place.

Mana just joined me on IPY2, I hope if you guys have some free time you decide to join us. Just so we can unite again in some way. Whats one of your favorite memories/threads or general drama you remember from over the years?

Most of Ron's work with Flash was pretty epic at the time. Turned me on to Flash myself and later Director. Now I'm studying to become an engineer in IT learning programming languages and how to write good code.

I'm currently playing some DAoC to pass time until SW:TOR is released.

Original servers, normal ruleset, $15.99/month. Started under 3 weeks ago and just hit lvl 50 this weekend with casual play and am doing the Champion quest line that should give me a good main weapon to start off my RvR adventures.

They just did a 10th year anniversary patch adding, amongst other things, content for new/returning players, like starter quests etc. Nothing huge but enough to help people get back into the game.

Battleground instances that change every 5 lvls make you rocket in xp all the way from 1 to 50 so there's no real grind as it's so fast. Doing kill quests and PvP in the battlegrounds earn you xp and bounty points (bp) and you use bp to buy cheap gear while lvling.

They only have 3 worldwide servers; Mordred that has a PvP ruleset (total ffa pvp), Ywain that has a normal ruleset (3 realms fihting each other. You can make chars in all 3 realms), and Gaheris which is a Co-Op server (all 3 realms work together doing PvE content).

People say that Mordred is completely dead and that it's pretty much the same few guilds fighting over the same keeps/outposts. Ywain is split into like 9 clusters but all 9 are still the same server. The only difference between the clusters is their associated housing areas. I play on cluster 7, which means that I can't get a house in any of the other cluster's housing area but I can still go there and check out players vendors etc. Because of this, Ywain seems to be everyones favorite choice as population seems very high as there're always people around during all hours of the day/night. I've never heard anyone mention anything at all about the Co-Op server so that maybe says more than anything about that server

I don't know where the servers are located irl but I played from California when starting the trial and the game ran just fine without lag. Came home 2 weeks ago and game has been running really well here also.

Man guys,

Iv been a visitor here for years and years and years.

But I just have to post, I miss the good ol days on GL and Baja hehe rollin wiht twistter and the boys, the epic gateway dupe bug haha. Red all the way,. Anyways since then finally got my Internet Security/web development degree and getting my oracle certs

Since UO, only game that Iv been playing for a while now is World of Tanks while going through the loops with the WoW clones and shit. But WoT is pretty damn sweet tank mmo, with clan wars for world conquest on a world map. Gets pretty intense with Politics, and the tanks and maps are grade a design and graphics quality. Damn now I sound like a commercial lol.

anyways just wanted to chime in say hi

Ah those memorable early years of OSI '97-'99 were without a doubt some of the best gaming goodness ever to be experienced.. The only place that measured up IMO was WTFMANs first sponsored shard, Cygnus. Cygnus, which was years before IPY, and not long after those early OSI experiences, was the bridge that renewed my hope for that oldschool "PVP for PVPers" (instead of PVP for the PVP Handicapped). It was the extension of the seemingly endless excitement that was found way back when.

Thinkin about that ole ganking pk griefer fun always induces a little evil grin... and of course it goes without saying that any such nostalgia is immediately followed by the nausea of the next 2-3 years we all spent trying to restore some semblance of what we knew UO should have been. EQ, AC and all the others that followed were just "made for the masses" which always left a sour taste in your mouth. I used to play as "SnypeR" on Cygnus.. if anyone recalls the epic tournaments we used to have on that shard.

For some reason, when looking back on the innocent murdering fun we used to have on OSI pre-renaissance... I get a slightly dismayed feeling. Mostly because the social aspect of the game was really the first of its kind. It seems that the "niche" market with relatively few players allowed the game to take advantage of the unique timing when the internet itself was still an emerging technology. As the idea of such an environment stepped into a mainstream concept, it was inevitably diluted down.. Companies began to realize that there was a larger market base for "casual gamers" (aka your average half-brained carebear). It all makes perfectly logical sense now, of course. But hey, we just wanted to grief newb miners, gank the lich farmers every 30 minutes and promise to pay 700 gold for a horse if you transfer it first ( LOL ) Yep but those days are long gone, and I would know, I spent enough of my youth playing a game I no longer enjoy. With that being said, Ill have to pass on IPY2. heh
