Nice piece Brules, looks like it would conceal nicely. One of my concerns about getting the s&w .38 special for ccw was the diameter of the cylinder, but since I "dress to the left" the bulge evens me out :P
Epsilon, in my redneck hillbilly town in south carolina there's probably like 100 gun ranges in a 5 mile radius. It's borderline ridiculous here, the only constitutional amendment they can remember is the 2nd. I was at an Academy sports store last weekend and the gun counter was swamped with people named Cletus and Bubba. Some of them definitely looked below the poverty line but that didn't stop them from dropping $1300 on an AR-15. Gotta love this country
What kind of bow were you going to get? I took a recurve class in college and had a lot of fun. Super satisfying hitting a bullseye at 30 yards. When I lived in suburbia in FL I had a terrible armadillo problem. I don't advocate animal cruelty but these little bastards deserve to die (armadillos are actually an invasive species in florida). Since I lived in a dense pack neighbor, firearms were out of the question so I modified the pistol crossbow shown below.
I basically took the standard pistol crossbow you would find at any flea market in the southeast and amped it up. I doubled up the bows to make it 100lb draw. The strain on the single string was too much for the polyester so I ended up wrapping two of them together with green braided fishing line. I added a chain and pvc piping to the draw to make for a more comfortable pull grip. I used 75lb test monofilament for the toe hold wrapped several times through. The zip tie on the nose keeps the bolt level as it leaves the rail at high velocity (the bolts are a just light weight ABS plastic with steel tips). Since the armadillos were destroying the yard at night I mounted a mag-lite to the frame and a daisy red dot completed the upgrade. Fun little project that got the job done very quietly.
