Default Bots...

Why advertising bots would want to target a mostly inactive website's mostly inactive forums is beyond me, but I've taken to requiring every new user to be approved before they can post.

This should eliminate all the bots except for the ones that are not obvious by the name, email, ip address (most bots are from Russia and China), and signatures.

Awesome. I always hated signing in and seeing all these new posts, but then seeing they are all ads.

Sounds cool, damn bots.

I know I wont let these forums die, there will always be us few who have been visiting and discussing gaming at WTFMan for over a decade now.

What?!?! That user NewViagra is actually a bot? that is hard to believe....

I think this is a good approach. It seems to come and go in waves. We get a big influx of them for a few days then nothing for a few days.

The only thing I can think of is that the url has "wtf" in it and so perhaps the bots think we're some sort of pr0n or shock site. Dirty, dirty gamers...

Either that or what's-his-face is still douche bagging it up after being ousted for thieving donations from IPY.
