Which is why ultimately I decided to make a purchase, on those 4 facts alone.

The guard towers for towns and hamlets are the only safe zones, and they are not entirely safe. I dont know if there is a really strong spell in the greater magic classes that you can sync cast on a target or not, but guard towers can cut you down fairly quickly. Its not like insta whack from the guards in UO though so thats pretty cool at least.
Full loot enough said, bank it or its mine.
All projectiles found in game so far are dodge able.
You run, your mastery in running gains. You shoot, your mastery in archery gains, you get hit in armor your mastery of that armor class gains etc...

That's the kind of stuff I was hoping for out of a pvp game, it worked for UO and AC so I think it's the model you have to follow for genuine pvp. I just don't know if it'll be worth it to try and play on EU servers, I've heard the ping is quite terrible. Plus, the massive advantage the exploiters have right now is pretty intimidating.

Been playing for 3 days and already had a blast...

I was fighting this grey guy and he was not hitting me back. He was on 2 min grey but almost blue again. On my last hit he turned blue and I turned red... I thought I was screwed because so far I've been playing solo, but I decided to go to human land (one of my enemy races) anyway to try and get some alignment back and go blue. I was dreading the run a bit because I heard it can take hours to walk around this map but I didn't have to go so far.

On my way to human land I found a clan castle and 2 of their toons fooling around mining... I cast a mana missile on one of them and both of them come running at me with great swords in hand!

Now was this an equipment based game I would be pretty much fucked, because they had armor on and I was fully naked, only had my newbie weapons on me. But this is darkfall so I managed to kill one of them and escape the other... That's when I saw another one of my kin (alfar) hanging around that clan town. We partied up and spent the next 2h killing humans and looting them untill they got 6 of their best online and chased us away ultimately killing us both :P

My new friend managed to trash his gear which probably annoyed those boys, but i forgot you could actually do that, so all my newly aquired loot was lost (it's actually a bad thing about the game that you can trash your gear if you know you will die, should be impossible to do it while in combat imo)...

So cr0ss, did you get a guild yet?

Anyone from wtfman got a guild and wouldn't mind recruiting an alfar? Those castle wars seem like loads of fun.

Stories like that have me intrigued, because I don't really care about flawless animation and pretty graphics, as long as the mechanics aren't buggy and you can take on overwhelming odds if you know how to play.

Got plenty more and i've only been playing for 3 days... get darkfall and you can get your own stories like that..

Here is another one...

Getting a mount on darkfall can be quite complicated, especially if you are trying to do it the taming way... However there is one quite simple way to get a mount and way more fun then farming weeds...

Kill the rider, hop on the mount. Simple as that.

I was doing a quest (which by the way can be quite fun on darkfall aswell) when I see an elf (miridian or whatever those fools are called) riding towards me.

Again I figured, well this guy have a mount so he is probably way more skilled then I am... Well what are skills worth for if instead of fighting back u just run?! Not much. I was casting Mana missiles on the bastard, went out of mana (those missiles can be hard to hit, they are so slow) and pulled my bow.. after a few more hits the guy was kissing the ground, but to my despair a passer by ran to his mount and took from right under my nose.

I was quite depressed when he ran to tower zone... The towers don't kill you immediatly but they sure do a lot of damage... 10 hits are enough to kill me and they hit fast.

I thought.. well that was my chance for a mount, but just a few hours later i found a fellow alfar riding by. I though that a mount must be worth going red for and started attacking.. Turns out the guy gets desperate and dismounts, i hopped on his mount and rode straight to the bank. And that was my first mount steal, didn't even need to get red for that bad boy.

A couple of "you just got blacklisted from my guild" messages and "oh noes!" from me, the guy moved on.

GET ON DARKFALL!

EDIT:_ turns out it was good i didn't go red for that mount.. i wouldn't be able to bank the mount on the banks i know because they have towers near by and i have no idea where the red bank is... i would probably just have gotten tower whacked and the mount would be stolen

Damnit, quit making it sound so good! I'm getting bored of WoW right now mostly because I'm waiting for Ulduar and I forgot how annoying it can be to be locked into 4 hrs 3 nights a week. I want to play in a softball league with my wife this spring and I'm sure it will interfere with raiding.

Right now, my big concern is whether or not they will have character transfers allowed to go between EU servers and possible future NA servers.

Wow? man i quit Wow when i hit 60 and realised i was just gonna be gear farming for the rest of my days

here u can have just as much fun NAKED!

Of course it will take some skills to kill a guy in full plate while naked and with newbie swords like i was yesterday. but it can be done and it was!

you just have to time your blows so you dodge his blows and hit yours.. also if you have great sword and he has normal u can use it to your advantage as great swords have longer reach

your aim will be good after just a few hours if you ever played cs or any other fps game. u just have to get used to the delay of spells and gravity of arrows.

The past week since I've gotten established in the current tier of armor and have plenty of gold in wow I find myself playing Team Fortress 2 more and more. Plus they just added more maps and scout achievements so that always makes the game more fun. I can't STAND the pvp in WoW, I think it's garbage but I do enjoy raiding, although right now it's too easy it's boring.

MAN ON MAN! I was just on one of the beginners towns and some FuriA toons (a guild) were playing around with their mounts... stupidly one of them dismounted and i hopped on as anyone else would..

as soon as i got to town they killed my mount.. lame that you can attack mounts in town but w/e..

i am now on their Kill on sight list..

better start making friends soon before i am blacklisted by every guild in game...
