AC had a huge problem with this for a while because of the client side world positioning, and lack of protection/detection set up in advance. I wonder what AC would have been like without half the population leaving because of Gear.

There'd probably be enough population to still be playing now. =(

No immediate plans to. Sounds so far it has been shit, so why would I jump on that?

The release has been horrible i admit, but the pvp is actually quite fun. Lot's of people, lot's of loot.

I'm in, playing with KoC (under Blood tag) and we have a city on Cairn (SE island). I've been enjoying myself a lot but there definitely are a lot of issues that still need to be addressed. That being said, I was in beta and was totally expecting a rough launch. I can admit that I didn't think they'd screw up the account management and pre-orders so badly though. Luckily, I managed to buy a copy first day.
If you're really itching for something, I'd suggest buying it. Otherwise, give it a few more weeks for a lot of the shit to get worked out.
Alternatively, you can bitch and whine about how bad the launch has been while talking about how great UO was back in 98. Up to you.

I made an attempt at 2pm eastern yesterday to buy a copy. It will be my first and last time until they get there shit together. Can't believe clans have cities already.. Congratulations you all have already beat the game.

I think I'll just be keeping an eye on Darkfall's progress and if they will launch NA servers. Hopefully by the time they do that there won't be huge exploits that will allow people to "beat the game" in a day.
Also, I just want to double check a few things that I know I've probably already asked about but I can't remember what the answers were or if they changed anything.
1. Are there no safe zones, so you can kill anybody anywhere anytime you like?
2. Do people drop some of their money and/or items from their bags or equipped on their person when you kill them?
3. Are all forms of projectiles dodge-able by moving your character out of the way?
4. Is the game based on skills you have to raise to get stronger? (I'm pretty sure I've heard it is, just checking.)
If those are all yes's then I'll cross my fingers for North American servers.

Starter towns along with some settlements have guard towers that attack reds/greys. However, for the most part it is FFA pvp. Of course you can war a clan and fight in town freely (just don't smack a blue by accident).
2. Do people drop some of their money and/or items from their bags or equipped on their person when you kill them?
Anything a person has on him when killed can be looted aside from beginner weapons (think practice weapons in UO)
3. Are all forms of projectiles dodge-able by moving your character out of the way?
Yes, all projectiles (and melee swings) can be dodged using WASD (etc.)
4. Is the game based on skills you have to raise to get stronger? (I'm pretty sure I've heard it is, just checking.)
Yea, it's skill based. Hit with weapon, gain weapon skill. Shoot mana missiles, your lesser magic skill raises. No XP.
