When the person on this forum that pushes the game the hardest abandons it... That's a bad sign.

How long were you following it for? I signed up for my forum account August 03 and had been following it pretty closely since then. I won't be playing the game in it's current form either. I was pretty bummed at how linear the gameplay was and how dead the world felt.

Awhile back (maybe 6 months?) the dev's said you couldn't place items on the ground, and that kinda gave me a heads up at least. I guess I had a feeling it was going to turn into "DarkFail" after that.

Don't you think it will become more alive when the server is flooded by players?

I hope so. I'm not going to spend $50 to find out though. I can wait a few months. If they keep a player base I think DF will turn into a kick ass game. In my opinion, it just needs a little more time.

I will wait and see. It will be very unlikely that I will even try it. The world is ugly, the combat appears boring. My most favorite part of UO when I first played it was how interactive the world seemed. I felt like every object in that game served some purpose. I could chop the trees, tame the animals, fish in the water, mine the mountains, play games of chess in the taverns, write in the books in the shelves, sheer the wool off of sheep, craft armor from the hides of animals, get in a boat and sail the ocean, lockpick chests, trap boxes, find my own land for a house, write spells, make potions, make a vendor, herd animals, poison food. It was all this stuff I found fascinating and the player interactions just topped off the experience when I would hide quietly in a dungeon corner and watch reds run past me looking for victims. I even raised Spirit Speak up to talk to the ghosts we ran into to find out if there were Pk's nearby or to ask where their corpse was located to help them.

I see no great experiences to be had in DarkFall other than PvP and that simply isn't enough for me anymore.

My thoughts exactly.

The game was "dead" because of the lack of features in Beta. I played Beta for a month and still had fun though - mostly because things were so new.

Look in the Darkfall Updates and YOU thread for my full overview (the last two posts in the thread).

I didn't pre-order but I will buy the game and I will own.

I can only hope they change the gravestones into corpses, and improve the animations and combat. There IS a ton of potential.
