Do game companies see any profits from rentals?

Doubt it. they probably sell their copies of the games at a wholesale price to rental companies and let them make all the profit off of them.

I recently started getting all the achievements on my new Xbox Elite as well, and its renewed my console gaming. Assassin's Creed achievements are hard.

The Lego's game achievements are fun as well.

Nighthawk, I see you've been working on those Kung-Fu Panda achievements, I finished all of them a couple of weeks back. I actually really like Kung-Fu Panda, fun game.

Yeah, they do.

Back in the late mid-late 90's I worked for a company than used PC Games for a multi player gaming store.

The only way you can legally do anything like that, which includes renting games, is to purchase a license to use that game for a business. Any business.

So if you're running a rental company for games and you want to do it legitimately, you have to purchase the appropriate licenses for that software from the manufacturer/publisher. Otherwise you run the risk of getting legally buttfucked.

In either case... rental companies make money. Game publishers make money off licenses.

I'm in the same boat as Nighthawk, except rather than consoling it out, I just been playing Fallout 3 on PC and contemplating UO public shards.

Darkfall might be the latest, greatest, best hope for pvp'ers in a long time. I think the first time I learned about it, it was called Carnage.net and was a link I follwed from WTFMan.

Take a look at the Darkfall forums and you'll see communities coming back together. This could be a *big* game in terms of old school pvp'ers. People as far back as UO and AC-Darktide are all wandering out, mouthing off.
