Hum.... I agree for the most part. But I'm still enjoying warhammer very much. partly because my server is pretty good (chaos wastes) and I'm in a very good guild (Altdorf Saints) and we run tons of pqs, scenarios, and raids on keeps, Every friggin day.

But as you already mentioned Darkfall considering it does truly come out, we'll have alot of the same people. I think this is just how things are going to be now, The old days are gone forever. You can go play a UO server but its still not the same, those days are just gone no use crying about it.

I could not agree with you more. I gave up on these shitpiece mmo's a long time ago. I had hopes for Darkfall, but by the time it comes out, WoW 12 will have taken over like SkyNet.

Looks like someone's meds wore off in the middle of that rant

WoW has set the bar on MMO's here in the last few years. You can say it hasn't....but it really has. Ever noticed how most MMO's that come out now look almost identical to WoW UI wise? You hear people ask when a new games comes out..."How does it compare to WoW?". Face it....most of you guys have played WoW and loved playing it while you did. I can name a minimum of 3 people that bash the hell out of WoW now, but I seem to remember they could almost not wait until they got home to start playing it.

Game companies cater to those who continue to pay for the game. The last time I checked, the purpose of a company is to make a profit. Blizzard has definitely struck gold here. What other game that you know of has had approx 10 million subscribers for this long? Mmmmm...I can't think of any. I don't blame Blizzard or any other successful game company for continuing to pump out expansions or games that they know people are going to keep paying to play. Sure...these games get boring after awhile doing the same old grind day after day. But admit it, you had a blast doing it until it got old.

I got bored with WoW. I got tired of the same grind. I tired AoC. Figured WAR was going to be the same kind of disappointment as AoC so I didn't even bother wasting $50 on it.

Most of you need to realize that the "old days" of UO, DAoC, etc etc are long gone. So get your tissues out and dry your runny noses and teary eyes.

Recently I have started just playing console games. I can turn it off whenever I want and not have to worry about it. There aren't any games that have a grind factor like MMO's do. I can log in and have some fun either by myself, with friends or random people online.

It's like what happened with the economy. They wanted to sell more houses, so they made mortgages more accessible to the general public and the world exploded.

I say we all quit bitching at eachother for a couple months and all start a guild on Darkfall when it is released and just rape and pilage everyone and everything.

You're speaking to the chior man. I remember the excitement I had coming home from school back in 1998 to play UO. I had strictly online friends - before ventrilo, and I only knew them through their characters on Great Lakes. I still remember those guys when I occasionally run into them in other games - from AC, DAOC, to WoW and WAR. Those guys get the came concept that you just discussed:
-Our generation of gamers, the knowledgable ones, are being overlooked for the dollars of the casual, yet clueless gamer. They shouldn't even call themselves gamers for that matter.

Don't get me wrong, anyone should be able to play a game, but like your anaology to college, playing it doesn't nessecarily mean that the game must cater to your gaming style. This is why there are different gaming genres - RTS, FPS, MMO, Platform, Adventure, etc. Blizzard took the greatest MMO concept, turning their highly successful RTS game into an MMO, and executed it in the poorest and lamest ways. Honestly, Blizzard developers should be ashamed of themselves as game creators. They completley disregarded making a good game for the dollars of a bunch of cry baby whiny ass losers that try to call themselves gamers.

I guess there just isn't enough Richard Garriots in the world, is there.

Well, here's to Darkfall.

He's almost 100% right though, but sadly like he stated GREED is what drives all of the economy so as soon as the market showed promise of money to be made Blizzard struck gold by soliciting all the fucktards. It's just like the evolution of modern warfare, it used to be the case people would collide mid field sword in one hand and shield in the other. Those days were honorable and relied on personal skill just like the early MMO's. Now, we just push buttons and hide and snipe people or drop bombs without risk of loss or personal fighting skill just like current MMO's.

Even people who were from the old school games tend to only last so long with one game, people want newer and better games. Most tried to make WoW last but tended to fade in and out of playing because the pvp kept having changes that needed to be tried out and then most realized it was worthless. The game was the newest and most popular for a while so really no matter who you are you ended up playing it usually because of peer pressure. I had fun in WoW at times but I agree with risks that it ruined all future gaming, since everything will just be a slightly altered copy of it.

If you're content competing on Xbox Live then have fun, I'm sure they're are some worthwhile people that play on it but not the majority of them. Until something changes in the market I'm going to stick with the ever aging and decaying AC Darktide and my uber balanced team FPS Team Fortress 2, only 3 classes have the addons with many more to come.
