Default Job Security

How secure are you in your job? With all the layoffs going around, do you think that you're in danger?

I feel pretty secure in my position. I work for a chain manufacturer, as an engineer for the traction division (tire chains etc.). People will always need chains due to all the regulations requiring chains on the west coast, so I feel like this economic downturn wont affect me at all. how is the IT industry fairing? I know a lot of you are in that field...

my job is even depression proof. If state funding goes south we will just move from residential care to facility care meaning I will have to wear scrubs and use a time clock.

My business is one of the few that benefits from the downturn. Unless the government starts messin with the contracts I have then I may have issues or see a pay cut but the work isnt going to stop anytime soon.

kick people who don't pay the mortgage out of the banks house.

It's a shitty business, but its a business.
