Over my 10+ years of MMO gaming I have finally realized that we are fucking dinosaurs. The shrubs we like have all but died and all we have left is shit covered swamp grass. We keep lookin toward the oasis that is Darkfall hoping one day we might get to eat again but everytime it looks like its near... POOF away it goes for another year or two or three or four. Just out of reach is the scratch for the itch that is untainted and untouched PvP, "The way it should be".

So what do we do? Do we go back and try and relive the glory days on player run UO? Or do we give up on PvP altogether for the pixel chase of end game raiding? I guess we could dedicate 6-8 hours a night on the arena ladder so we can be Egladiators and win the respect of 15yo kids everywhere. Honestly tho, I really dont think I can take any of that shit anymore. From too old to too boring I just can't believe nothing is worth playing...

Ahh but alas a shitty diamond is the shitty rough. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Like WoW it has its item grinds, time sinks, ect with the added twist of being based around group PvP through a constant struggle for world control. If you pick through the weeds in this game I seem to find the food I crave laced in with the bullshit. Much more so then in any of the more recent offerings. At this point you might be saying this thread is pointless and it might be, I just wanted to put the conclusion I have come to as well as the best remedy IMO for whats going on in MMOs today.

Come play Warhammer on Bechafen Order side. 20% exp bonus so do it now!

Edit: This all might have something to do with Richard Garriott going into space today. I really wish we could have sent him and the rest of clan Trammelize to Mars circa '00 to play fucking Pvpless Tabula Rasa with themselves.

I agree manapaused, everyone needs to try Warhammer. The RVR/PVP element is very good and if you want to do WoW style quests and instances yes those are there too. But I have been enjoying myself capturing points and fighting off Orcs, Dark Elves, and Chaos until reinforcements arrive.

When Darkfall finally arrives, considering it actually does. I'll have a look at it, But until then I'm not going to cling to the hope of it finally being released.

Edit: Oh and is anyone taking bets on when UO is finally shut down? I heard they only have about 70k players left now. Most of which are from Asia because of the Samurai/Ninja expansion pack they made.

UO will stop before xmas 2009 or Kotor MMO. There is no point to try to keep it alive with so many better intellectual properties. Why as a company would you compete against yourself with Kotor and WHO. Thats what I am thinking at least.

I have been reading reviews of WHO and initial and final impressions up to the latest patch and although I still will not play the game I am impressed as to what it offers, how stable it is, and how many people are playing it. Five reasons exist as to why I wont play it: Its not darkfall, too many holiday season games out right now or in the next few weeks, its an EA product, Warhammer universe holds no interest to me, I have played it or a combination of it before. So although for what it it does it does wonderfully I still have no desire. If it was relabled Ultima Online 2 and had some changes to the design I would have in a heart beat though.

well at least i can comment on something pertaining to this thread. I received an email today informing me about Sturgeon Abyss some new expansion to UO that has Gargoyles as a playable race and 3 new skill sets. And here I was thinking it was going to die.
