Aventurine to Launch New Game on GNi's Leading Multiplayer Game Hosting Platform - MarketWatch

Oh jeebus, I think it's finally coming...

EDIT: Also want to point out that this isn't proof that N. America will get a simultaneous launch, but since the company is based outta Cali, maybe we'll be lucky.

Too bad WAR is already out, and WotLK is on its way. They're about 3 years too late and a fanbase too short.

This game is going after a niche market. As long as they are realistic in the fact that they are not going to see 5 million users they wont have a problem. WAR will take a bit of the WoW community along with the people who got suckered into AoC and the WoW xpac will keep the core fans busy but imo those two games split a fanbase while Darkfall aims for a different part of the community.

I realize you are a big fan of Warhammer Scarhand but TBO it really is WoW rehashed. They may wrapped the grind in new paper, remade the UI, made it darker, and called it RvR. Dont get me wrong I think the game is fun but to say its much more then WoW 2 is a bit of a stretch. Darkfall is the only game on the horizon that truly promises something different then the new standard.

Yeah, if you really think you can compare the two, you're bat shit insane. WAR, like manapaused pointed out, is basically WoW with some changes. Don't get me wrong, I've been playing it already and it isn't that bad. After playing about 20 hours now, I'm already getting worned out on it. Although when you get a group together in vent, the scenarios are pretty fun and makes the grind a bit more bearable.

But it isn't anything special either, and won't have much affect on Darkfall.

Its a game. With anything in life that is not taken in moderation, doing the same thing over and over will get old fast. Theres so much you can do in WAR, and its PVP centered. I mean once you get to higher levels a lot of the quests involve hunting down and killing members of the other realm or taking over thier bases etc. Not only that, but the PVP is actually pretty balanced.

Darkfall is going to be a piece of shit, just you wait and see. If its taken this long to come out, and they have what, 3 core developers? How long do you think updates are going to take? I don't get people hanging onto this big fucking deal for a decade. I was really into it....5 years ago.

Yep, WAR is WOW with some changes, and darkfall is PreUOR UO with some changes. Just like AC was EQ with some changes...right? Even though a game plays completely different, as long as its UI looks similiar to another games, it must be the same game with a few minor tweaks. Your logic is undeniable.

Don't get me wrong, I will definately be trying out Darkfall (assuming it actually gets to release). I just won't be expecting much from it. Don't cross your fingers, remember what happened with UO2? Gaming companies have a history of announcing releases and then ditching them....don't get your hopes up....my hopes for this game were shot down years ago.

I wasnt trying to put you on the defensive Scar. Everyone on the forums knows you are a fan of the Warhammer series. I am just stating that IMO WAR is WoW 2. Its really not a bad thing as I enjoyed alot of things about WoW. From my few days of beta, WAR gave me the same feeling as WoW with much improved PvP.

The UI isnt the only thing that reminds me of WoW tho, the look, feel, and speed of the game to me are damn near identical. I don't think you can say EQ and AC felt anywhere near as close in game speed and combat system as the WoW/WAR comparison. I do think WAR is going to be the best thing we have for a good long while. Like you said minus the sarcasm, I do think my logic is undeniable. It really is the same game with a few minor tweaks. I really don't understand why most of the Warhammer fanboys see the comparison to WoW as disrespect. I think WoW with good balanced PvP is the next best thing to UO and AC. The gameplay and speed work perfect for a 3d engine, the learning curve is perfect, and the game has mass appeal to anyone from hardcore gamer to soccer mom.

As far as Darkfall goes, I think the odds are heavily in favor of the game sucking massive rhinoceros dick. But its that small percentage that gives most of us hope that it could live up to what we hype it as. Obviously it's shooting for the same gameplay as Pre:Ren UO but as far as game speed and style it will surely be alot different. All the same until it comes out and proves its worth your gonna see me glued to WAR.

Because, as NH said, WOW sucks in a bad way. It takes forever just to do anything, you have to run around for literally hours on end just to level up enough to be able to compete. You have to grind and do a bunch of shit you don't want to just to advance your character. Then when you do get to 70, you have to waste more time running around and grinding away, wasting hours doing more shit you don't want to do just so you can get the gear you need to compete. Then once you have the gear, everything is so fucking unbalanced, you can get dropped by a greened out rogue and theres nothing you can do about it, because if you do even manage to get out of the stun lock, the unkillable resto druid will sit and heal him and never run out of mana. To anyone who says "omg thats only 2 classes", well if you look at the WOW arena teams, all the top teams are rogue/restodruid or warrior/restodruid. This is WOW.

Compare that to a game where you can do whatever you want, and whatever you enjoy to level. You can go kill people, you can take over their bases, you can join scenarios while you quest, it doesn't take hours just to get from point A to point B, it doesn't take 10 minutes just to fly somewhere through the flight master. You can level PVPing, you can level PVEing. The items you get, whether you PVE or PVP, will always keep you balanced with other people your level. The classes are unique and balanced, and any class has a good chance to kill any other in a 1v1 situation. You don't have to wait 15 minutes just to join a scenario to gain reknown. You don't even have to PVP just to get reknown gear. Comparing WAR to WOW is insulting WAR.

Yeah, but is it similar to Wow in the way that if you don't have a large group of friends available you have to wait hours to join some that may just decide to be unreliable and disappear in the middle of some quests? I got sick of Wow when I couldn't play the game alone. I had to fucking wait for a group of people to join me and some were douches and by the time I had a group going I was tired of playing because it was hours passed and now more hours before you can complete the quest and all the sudden it wasn't even fun anymore. It was forced social gaming when you didn't have the time or patience.

Yeah that's the nature of MMO's but sometimes you want to play successfully as an anti-social type.

I won't play WARhammer because I don't generally like other gamers and can't play well with them.

I think DF will be a breath of fresh air from an otherwise stale market, if it flops oh well, wait til mortal online. If both flop i think that might be the end for my mmorpg career

You all have done a wonderful job of conveying the point I was making in the war thread. You all have also confirmed my suspicions and beliefs as to why I wouldn't even give that game a chance. " WoW Paint " stands firm, as for some reason he decided to defend himself with his own opinion with you rather than just spew out unintelligible trolls as he did with me. Thats fine as thats what we call progress!

What will I play if Darkfall is truely Darkfail? Not a damn thing. I know what kind of game I want, and it is Darkfall. I want to be able to stand on a precipice, force push your ass off the edge, then snipe you in the face with an arrow and tbag you as I loot and dry hump your corpse. Then put the winning frapped video on fucking youtube and this forum... when you read that who the fuck doesnt want to be able to play that? Who doesnt want to naval battle and be a mofucking pirate with a UO style Tricorne baby! seriously with everything it has going for it I dont see how it could possibly suck unless its just broken and bug laden with exploits. however this is the kind of game xploiters love to try to make progs for such as Tavu and AskChopper did for UO. I hope that kind of shit at least takes 6 months to do and that Adventurine actively pursues anti-cheat and bug fixes every week.

So now when this game comes out beta or retail, may I join JoV and be the Faction Smith ? Its sad but although this game has awesome pvp the first thing I want to do is make a crafter and gm him before anyone. Then I can supply and build on demand and make a name for myself and the guild I represent.

FUCK I AM ECSTATIC TO PLAY THIS NEXT MONTH SOMETHING WILL BE DEFINITIVE!!

edit: according to the article Game To Be Launched Simultaneously Across 50 Countries one of those has to be North America
