Me, I'm not looking for the next.
I'm looking for some game fun. Something to play that we can work together to prosper and have fun doing it.

Ahh you are right, I was unfamiliar with warhammer being an original property before 1993 right before warcraft 1 was released, to which I was counting the development of warcraft in late 92, early 93 I didnt know it came out when I was 7 years old. However, I still stand firm on my rip-off accusations as the similarities are what they are. EA always does this though. They are the McDonalds of fucking intellectual property. They never push for originality they always cultivate previous designs and then try to make those look original by improving on them. I hate wasted intellectual properties. If only D&D online, swg, and LOTR hadnt either been pioneered by people who are complete and utter tools, or didnt try to emulate everything else they could have been huge commercial success. I dont know of one person out of my 300+ online gaming friends that still play any of those 3 titles.

I still ask who thinks anyone in WoW WotLK beta should try warhammer? Why bother? Why grind all over again? Why mass huge amounts of gold and property all over again? Why all over again?

Because WoW sucks in a bad way. The pvp is instanced and cookie cutter. WAR is so pvp centric that you can even level from pvp. That fact alone says it's got something going for it.

How is this different from what we are hearing about WAR? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm legimately wanting to know.

There's instanced PvP just like WoW's Battlegrounds, world pvp and objectives (just like WoW), and then RvR areas...not much different than a BG, since it's a designated place to PvP, just fights can be a lot more lop sided...and WoW will have pretty much exactly this with the all-pvp zone coming in expansion with siege weapons and vehicle combat.

The only difference I've heard is they allow you to earn some XP while in Battlegrounds and people have a random chance of dropping loot (from a loot table, not dropping their actual items). And I won't be surprised if Blizzard makes this happen since WAR is.

I'm barely playing WoW atm, in the expansion beta and trying to figure out if I'm going to keep playing WoW some, try WAR, or neither.

Alright, I am going to say this I am a huge wow hater, and even beyond that I hate games that look, sound, feel, and play like wow and how it caters to the lowest skill denominator. WITHOUT playing warhammer personally I dont guess I have an opinion to really give except on its face value. So WotLK now has these following additions:
New additions to PvP in the upcoming expansion includes:

* One new instanced battleground named Strand of the Ancients.
* The Lake Wintergrasp non-instanced world PvP zone.
* Two new arena maps.
* New world PvP objectives.
* New PvP reward systems.
* New siege weapon and destructible building gameplay.
* Mounted and Aerial mounted combat
along with any previous pvpability the game had going for it those seem to be strides in the right direction for pvp in that game to steal thunder away from warhammer's offerings right? So can anyone outline for me, the jaded gamer, or any WoW ( waiting on wotlk ) player the Major outstanding differences in skill, playability, teamwork, and other pvpcentric designs that can honestly seperate it from ripoff to outstanding property? or link me to something that does?

thanks in advance.

* waits for darkfall *

WAR looks like WoW, but plays like DAoC. If you liked DAoC PvP, you'll like WAR.

The PvP is challenging in its own way, unlike WoW. The only challenge in WoW was the arenas, and even then it was all about the team makeup.

With the right skilled team, a group of 5 could take on 15 unskilled players. Its been awhile since I've seen a game that can do that.

How is Warhammer Online a waste of Intellectual Property? The lore is pretty much spot on, and this is coming from a person who has played the tabletop games for 20+ years.

If anyone ripped anyone else off it was Blizzard who ripped off Games Workshop.

For a so-called "WoW Hater" you bag on Warhammer an awful lot.

Damn it. There's a perfectly good Penny Arcade comic for this thread and I just can't find it.

Warhammer came out way before diablo 1.

This really sums it up imo. When people have asked me how WAR has been in beta I've always answered exactly what I just quoted cr0ss for. It's like they took the best from DAoC and the best from WoW and made a game from that.

Did anyone mention that quest/public quest and other rewards are class specific rather than some junk you can't use?
