WTFD&D via IRC

What We would need

A few IRC channels, specifically: #DnD (for DnD chat); 3+ channels for actual DnD play
Two forums, one public for storing character info and the like, the other private for DM's to store dungeon info, campaign info, etc.

I think this would be something fun we could do, maybe have an intermediate group or two, and an expert group, play DnD online via the IRC server.


What do you guys think?

It'll fail.

Not because it's not a good idea... but beause one of the appeals of D&D (at least to me) was getting together in person, bringin food/drinks, and horsing around while the DM got his shit together.

It doesn't translate well online.

Jeebus I havent played DnD in a good 10 years. I have to agree with Beer on the whole table top appeal. I'm sure it could work tho.

DnD Doesnt have a real big "text based" following... Would probably get a relatively small turnout.
