It still evens the playing field. I have had a rough start with CoD games. I have more fun on CoD games but only because I like earning kill streaks. BFBC2 is great but so is CoD.
I've gone back to WaW and for the first time find myself being successful at it. CoD sucks when you are having negative K/D matches.
I want to start playing with a party on CoD. Does anyone else play XboX and want to start learning to play as a team? (Black Ops) I know for a fact I will suck bad at first.

I've never used aiming assist and assumed it doesn't work in multi-player.
However, hit boxes are ridiculously large to compensate for being less precise than a mouse for aiming. I'd bet bullets are about the size of people and player hit boxes are the size of cars if they were visible
It's kinda of gay, but as long as everyone is using the same thing at least it's fair.
Also, good luck with team play on CoD. It's all run & gun, everyone trying to get highest kill/death ratio. BC2 has a lot more potential for team play with all kinds of incentives for playing with your team/squad. Although in practice, especially when playing by yourself, it's not like teams are working really well together. At least with the spawn system it's easy to stay together.

Aiming assist is automatic and you can find it in cod 4, 5, 6, medal of honor, battlefield bad company 2 and some other games.. Try it for your self, go into an empty server and have a friend run back and forth in your crosshairs and watch as it tracks em. But only in the console versions.
The community, the pains of just muting one person, and other things account as to why I hate console fps' along with the controller.
To each their own I suppose I like more challenge myself not less.

What converter did you use? I'd love to get a KB/Mouse converter for my 360 that has some semblance of crispness, but every review I read is fair at best.

The thing about aiming assist.
You will never be as precise with thumb toggles. Thus the need for aiming assist when you compare it to a mouse. If others are also using the controller then we all have the same limitations and aiming assist helps with the frustration. Change your sensitivity.
The one good thing about the controller is that moving around is easier because of the thumb toggles.
My suggestion is to practice your hand-eye coordination with the controller but since CoD is such a quick kill game, I find that with just average reflexes/accuracy, you can be a well above average player with map knowledge, smarts, and above all, awreness.
Killing a player has several factors and luck is something that can put into check by understanding the spawn system. Acurracy can be brought into check by using cover and concealment when choosing to engage and just using trying to only engage opponents on your terms(avoid front on engagements until you are confident) and shoot in the back mostly.
This isn't the most exciting gamestyle but it can turn you into a consistantly positive K/D ratio player within a few months of picking up your first console.
The theater mode is by far my favorite feature in Black Ops. I choose to sometimes review my games in addition to watching the strongest player in the match and also sometimes the very worst. Learn what people are doing to be the best and learn the mistakes of the worst. Plus watching the worst player is quite hilarious.

About thumb toggles, How can one impove their accuracy!!!! I do decent but it seems some people just zero in on my ass and don't get off of it. At times I have trouble staying on someone. I guess I need to lay off the crack.

All I do is lower my sensitivity until my hand-eye coordination has caught up to the sensitivity. Once the lower sensitiity becomes a hindrance you just up the sensitivity until you are accustomed to it. I currently play at (4) but I want to be able to play with much higher sensitivity and control my aim towards upper-body shots.
Also pop fire (burst) to keep the weapon recoil in control.
I suggest watching WingsofRedemption on youtube.com.

Yea my K/D when I play is usually 1.5-1 or 2-1, simply because I have played COD on console only, and have played each game consecutively over the past 2-3 years. The advice on the sensitivity is smart, adding to that the use of claymores, and easier to handle weapons MP5 Famas etc help with that. I see the claymore as a free kill once you know the map and where to place them.

Here is something cool I just learned about CoD. Only in Black Ops, you can play split screen multiplayer on xbox live now. You must play on the same team though.
My KD ratio sits about .8
I allowe my nephews to play when they come to visit because they don't have the xbox or game until Christmas. I am probably a 1.0-1.5. K/D ratio player. I play m60 with grip, and galil. My perks are usually hardlin/flackjacket - warlord/hardened - hacker.
Run low killstreaks like spyplane, counter spyplane and carepackage/napalm.
That is my favorite and yeah, claymore is fun!
