New Xbox
I bought my Xbox in Dec of 2006. I returned it to MS (like everyone else) with the RROD once about 9 months ago. Recently, I started to get a Disc Read Error on a lot of games. Sometimes, I'd have to open and close the DVD drive several times to get it to read the games. We talking one week old, brand new games.
Luckily, when I originally bought mine, the place I got it had a deal for a free two year extended warranty. Last night I returned mine and got the new Pro edition they have out. The warranty company was pretty clueless. They actually asked which version I had. Looking back, I think I probably could have gotten away saying the Elite.
The new one sports a larger hard drive which is nice with the new install feature with games. It comes with component cables, but actually has an HDMI port if I want to buy the cable. I have one of few TV brands/models which actually accepts 1080p through component, but it's nice to have the option should I need it. The DVD drive and processor are also suppose to be better.
Although I didn't want to put anymore money into the system, I thought it'd be retarded not to buy another replacement plan with the failure rate so high.
Moral of the story (if there is one): If you buy a 360 get a warranty. If you have a warranty, get your system replaced before the warrany expires. You very well might get an upgrade and then can renew your warranty again.
