Definitely not a Wii. It's all casual or "party" games. Mine has sat unhooked for about six months.
If you can only get one, I'd recommend a 360. Everyone I know with both play it a lot more. They have quite a few exclusives (there's only 1 game...edit: make that 2, I can think of worth a damn that's an exclusive on the PS3) and even the ones that aren't are mostly being built for the 360 and ported over to PS3, which usually results in worse graphics and bugs.
Also, the online play is a lot better (although you have to pay ~$50 a year for it).

I can only speak for two out of the three consoles you have shown interest in; Wii & X-Box 360. While I have enjoyed the Wii, I have to agree with Lebowski and state that this system is much more of a party game console. I also do not like the control system for the Wii, as it feels quite clunky.
Now, I have an X-box 360. The X-box 360 has been a fun console to play on, and has quite a large list of interesting games attached to it. Nov 19 they will be re-releasing X-box Live to match the community system of the Wii; at least that's what it looks like to me. I wish I could say this console is all bells, whistles, and cotton candy from heaven. Unfortunately I purchased an early edition of the console, and now it's the second time I have had to send it in for repairs.
My advice would be to buy an X-box 360, but be sure to buy a new model, and not a used console. Have fun, and let the head shot's reign supreme, no matter what console you choose.

I would get Xbox360. PS3 is just as good tho with nearly as many games. Wii is okay still but not as good for hardcore gamers.
probably go with for xbox live

360 4tw nuff said... I have enjoyed only the Nintendo first party games produced for the wii and little to nothing more.
the ps3 has little big planet, resistance series, god of war 3, metal gear solid 4 and some other exclusive titles that I like and I do need a blu ray player, however other than a few titles sony just doesnt have there shit together like microsoft has.
I used to love nintendo but since Snes man just went to shit.
xbox by far gives the most bang for the buck. ease of use, interface, superior online gaming, plus they get almost all the ps3 exclusives.. You will see mgs 4 and final fantasy 13 on it one day. I dunno sony lost hard this time around and they do not have the titles to make me consider buying it. i still love my ps2 though!

As an owner of all 3, I'd have to agree with the 360 as the console of choice. XBOX Live alone is worth the price of admission. The PS3 is a great console on it's own, but the library just doesn't compare.
Get an XBOX 360 Elite and let the god times roll.

Yet another vote for the 360 here. I have a Wii and a 360, but I haven't played the Wii really since I got the Xbox. 360 wins easily.
And Joe is right (for once), Xbox Live alone makes the 360 the clear choice.

Yea. I went through this a year ago. They're all pretty valid consoles.
Wii is good if you're gonna do a lot of party games or are a nintendo nut.
PS3 is good if you're going to bet on it's pending promises and presently shaky online play (The Wii really has none). The whole PS3 thing is still got a very "in progress" feel to it.
The 360 is more or less mainstream right now. There really isn't anything innovating about it like a blu-ray player, IR motion or dual shock controllers. But it's been on the market almost a year longer than the Wii or the PS3, it's got an assload of games, the online play is by far superior to PSN presently. Yeah, you pay for the Gold membership. However most games that have online play come with some form of freebie time. Sometimes it's a month, sometimes it's hourly. Finally, there are just more people who seem to own 360's, which makes playing online just that much more fun.
