definitely the latter bro.. I find myself giddy as a child on xmas morning for some games and some definitely do not disappoint.. However the amount of pussification of our beloved pastime has not only dampened my spirits but also seems to be irrecoverable at this point, once big name pc publishers see how successful activision has been with MW2 I fear things may change radically in the next year or so. I did not used to buy into the whole Hardcore vs. Casual bs fanboism and shit but now I think its completely with merit. If I ever win powerball I am going to start up a gaming company called dedicated pc with 2 branches just to churn out pc games like olden times even with lan support lol.
Even now a game I hold in high regard, Assassins Creed 2, managed to be way too easy that dying was mostly due to jumping the wrong way or a bad camera angle vs. A.I. difficulty which to me is just a very big problem. Plus lets not even get started with the MMO state of things.. although Darkfall looks to be getting a huge overhaul this week. I might have to check it out. I love a good competitive FPS and found my fix in Neotokyo but my fairly new graphics card took a hit in the video ram and now I have to RMA it. So now I am xboxing it up with 1 vs 100, and some xbl arcade titles for now.. But i dunno man complaining about gaming today seems as moot of a point as complaining about how Lady GaGa is a no talent hack..
Is there any game you really still enjoy playing or one you are looking forward to?
on a edited note, here is a lengthy topic on game difficulty:
