Umm, you don't know what's wrong with the pvp in WoW? Adam, I've pvp'd with you for 12 years - that question shocks me.

First off, all pvp being instanced is fucking gay. The beauty of AC was that (until housing) nowhere in the world was safe and even after housing it was like 1/1000th of the server was safe. To say the least, that is far from the case with WoW.

Free for all? Not even close.

Talk shit to people you're fighting? Hell no, this is carebear land!

Looting? lol

Basically, all PVP is in WoW is just another grind for equipment. You talking about how you've done all the season 3 gladiator stuff and T6 pve stuff... man, that makes me sad. All that for items just to be able to... well... do more of the same? I mean, I guess it's great to have all that gear and be able to wail on people that don't have it, but that doesn't make for fun pvp to me.

Not... even... close.

I had fun doing Arenas when I had a group of competent people to pvp with, even if we weren't all uber it would be fun. The part that made is suck is trying to get those same people to get on each week and do arenas, it turned it into a grind. Plus, if you didn't get on and get your gear asap you would be behind and punished because you were outgeared, and the people who got all their gear would reform new teams so even if you were at a low ranking you would fight decked out people.

Grind = Stupid.

Same reason I don't even play EVE, which is about as close as you can get to freedom, but just taking a year or more to get into the best shit is crap...I want to fight anyone who's been on the server since day one after a month (or less) of skill/item/whatever...in MY perfect game death is permanent, but you come out of Cgen with all your skills at the top, of course you can't have ALL the skills..and you only get one char...but then there is NO grind and it's all about fun. Taking a town, fighting a rivial guild, taking over a mine/ blowing up a nuclear reactor...(That's so the CIA/FBI can read this and perhaps develop a good game) or whatever. ...it will never happen outside of a MOO/MUSH game probably (As one I used to play and still have a char on, CyberSphere)...but I can dream. I do realize most ppl feel an achievenment with getting their chars skills up..but I am not one of them.

Didn't have much time with my last reply as I was running out the door to go to class. I'm sorry that you think it's sad that I have made a good character. I enjoy the PvE aspect of the game as well as the PvP. I enjoy progressing through the end-game content because thats actually where it starts to get challenging. So as far as that goes, yeah I plan to finish up with Sunwell Plateau hopefully.

What I think is wrong with PvP in WoW is different from what you think is wrong with it. I don't care about not being able to shit talk. Hell, I got banned on games for that every single time so the fact that I don't have that option when I am all emotionally charged up in battle is something I can live without. The grind of pvp items? What a joke that is. It's very simple to get the top-end pvp gear. And if you think its all about bashing the people that don't have it well you haven't gotten into a decent bracket in arenas. The only pvp in WoW I enjoy is trying to get better at arenas because it is challenging as a mage to me. It keeps me thinking. And I face a lot of good players too. Everyone and their mother has season 3 shit since you could buy points for so long so its not like im outgearing everyone.

I find it fulfilling that in an 8 month time frame from when I started WoW in the first place that I have achieved what I've achieved. I strive to see all the content in a game I enjoy and play it to its max which I think you know. Sorry if you think its sad.

Heh, your feelings get hurt so easily.

EDIT : ok, I guess that response was not very helpful. Adam, you took my "that's sad" a little too seriously I think. If that's what turns your crank in WoW, who am I to argue. I'm just saying, I remember a time when mundane monster killing and instanced PVPing would have driven you crazy. Well, maybe I haven't evolved well enough since it still does leave me longing for something more.

UO: "World" pvp where if you lost, you not only lost everything on you, but you were a ghost and had to figure out how to get alive again, get re-equipped, etc. Harsh.

AC: Again, world pvp. You couldn't have unlimited recall spots so if you were a ways from one of your ties and you died, that was a crappy day. Standing at your lifestone, light a few items with vitae and having to rebuff. Not quite as harsh, but certainly tough since you could be killed again as soon as 1 minute later and there were no safe zones to hide in.

WoW: World pvp is basically non-existant and when it does take place the only punishment is a brief run back from the graveyard. The "real" pvp takes place in instances which you have to stand in line in a queue to access... oh man, very intense. Then you get put into a preformed area with (supposedly) semi-equal teams where you again have punishment free combat. *yawn*

Come on man, the old school hardcore pk in you has to see how unfulfilling some of us will find that. I pvp'd in WoW for years and have seen every new and innovative concept Blizzard has come up with and all of it is pretty bland compared to what we deserve.

Cmon, we all know Rich is an asshole.

Edit: Although, after reading his edit I don't think his comments really qualify for the asshole tag... this time!!!

You're wasting your breath here NH.

He, like so many others, have been brainwashed by the present MMOG market.

The only thing that's going to snap people back, maybe, is a good swift kick to the head by way of a great MMOG. So we'll see what the future holds.

Otherwise... toast.

Dude, seriously, I didn't yank a lollipop out of your mouth or something. If my thorough explanation and dissection of my thinking about WoW's PVP in response to your "but why do you hate it" isn't enough to show that I at least think I have some valid points, I dunno what to tell you.

Your response of "well *I* like it!" wasn't nearly as detailed and it just sounded like you were upset that I said that you not seeing the Warcraft PVP for what it is being sad hurt your feelings. As I said in my last post, if the gear grind and instanced PVP is your thing now, I'm not here to take that fun away. If "the making of a great character" (IE: the item grind which is the end game of WoW) makes you happy, then yay for you... it was crap to me and I think I explained why.

Sorry if I thought your skin was thick enough to have a conversation of this type without having to pout about how "friends" treat you poorly.
