Default Methos of Power-leveling

There are two fairly simple methods or power leveling available in AoC. The first one may or may not be patched out. It all depends on whether or not the devs view it as unintended.

Tag and Bag
I’m sure everyone is familiar with this method of PLing. In essence, the lower level player tags a mob to get the kill/loot rights, and then the higher level player murders it. We have found that as long as the mobs are at least 6 levels higher than the player being power-leveled, the xp should cap out, meaning you will get maximum xp for your level per mob.

Now the trick here is to find a large group of mobs with a spawn rate sufficient to keep you killing as fast as possible. So far, the only location we have found for this is over behind the Sanctum in the Wild Lands.

The key to this method of leveling is a ranged weapon. The lower level player that is being leveled really needs to have a ranged weapon. Most often, if the player attempts to engage in melee against the mobs in question, they will die quicker than the mobs can be pulled off by the power-leveler.

Apprenticeship:
This method of power-leveling is quite a bit slower than the simple tag and bag method. Basically, a higher level player will invite one or more lower level players to a group and apprentice each one. One teacher can apprentice 5 lower level players.

This bumps each apprentices level to 1 below the “Teacher” (person doing the apprenticing), and raises all their current abilities to that same level. The drawback here is that the apprentice doesn’t receive any additional abilities/skills, so they aren’t quite as capable as someone of the same class and similar level. They are, however, more able to survive encounters provided they don’t wander off from their teacher and pull a pack of mobs they can’t handle.

Now, the amount of xp that each apprentice gets doesn’t quite cap the way it does with the Tag and Bag method, but the group dynamics allow the Teacher/Apprentice(s) to plow though mobs faster generating more overall xp than the Apprentice can generate solo on mobs of his/her own level.

The most important aspect of the Apprenticeship method is that it allows both the Apprentice and the Teacher to benefit from the experience by receiving experience and loot.

See you all in game.
